Borneo Buys is a new e-commerce platform that aims to promote the unique cultural heritage and products of Borneo Island to a global audience. Our mission is to provide a sustainable livelihood for local artisans and small businesses by connecting them to customers around the world through our online store.

We will showcase a diverse range of high-quality, locally sourced products, including handcrafted jewelry, home decor, clothing, books and accessories.

First, we pay the artisans full asking price for each item we buy from them. We do not make loans or sell on consignment. Artisans receive full payment during the transaction. Your purchase from Borneo Buys directly supports local artisans in Borneo by providing them with a fair wage for their handmade eco-friendly products. This not only helps to sustain their livelihoods and families, but also helps to preserve their traditional skills and crafts.

The income generated from the sales of Borneo Buys products helps to fund conservation efforts and initiatives aimed at protecting the rainforest and its unique wildlife. Founded in 2012. Their main objective is to conserve the rainforests by practicing a framework which we have specialized, the 4 Es.

Education- School workshops and fauna/flora research.

Enforcement- Reducing hunting pressures through creative practices.

Enrichment of Habitat- Planting wildlife favorite food in reforestation sites

Economy- Developing Conservation Tourism products for local job creation and supporting the local economy.

SPCAKK

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Kota Kinabalu (SPCA KK) is a non-governmental organization which has been working in Malaysia since 2006.

A group of animal lovers who had been working independently for the welfare of strays and abused animals in Kota Kinabalu had decided to form a common platform so that their work can be done more effectively.

The purpose of the society is to promote a better understanding on the needs, and rights of animals in order to reduce the incidences of animal abuses.

At Borneo Buys, we offer international shipping to the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia. We strive to ship all orders within 24 hours of purchase, so you can get your items as soon as possible.

We use POS Laju, the express mail service in Malaysia. Our shipping rates are a flat rate based on weight. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout, so you know exactly how much you'll be paying for shipping before you complete your order.

Please note that shipping times may vary depending on your location. We estimate that orders typically take about 2 weeks to arrive, but this can vary depending on customs and other factors.

Once your order is shipped, you will receive an email confirmation with tracking information so you can track your package every step of the way.

Borneo Buys wants you to be completely satisfied with each and every purchase. As with all handmade items, variations will occur. Your artisan put a lot of care and effort into creating your product. To respect our artisans we do not accept returns for 'change of mind'. 

We are only accepting returns for damaged or defective products or products that arrived by error.

• These must be reported to us within 7 days of delivery.
• Any shipping costs, customs fees, and taxes are not included in the refund amount.
• Visual proof of items will be required and can be emailed to borneobuys@gmail.com

We take great care to package your items to ensure they arrive safely. Please kindly pack fragile items with the protective materials that you received with your package. Please also note that items must arrive to us as undamaged, unwashed, and unused or they will not be eligible for a return. All shipping costs are non-refundable.

We have a 7-day return policy, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as consumables), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
